Government Spending Cuts.


Almost half of the public think that the government has gone too far with the public spending cuts. 47% said they thought the size of the cuts was too high, with just 7% saying the cuts did not go far enough.

When asked who they thought was responsible for the deficit, 55% blamed the Labour party wholly or partly responsible, but this was overshadowed by an overwhelming 73% who held the banks responsible.

82% felt that the banks ought to be prevented from paying large bonuses, and 85% thought that any bank bonuses ought to be subject to a tax.

40% of people think that they personally will be worse off this year than last, compared with 28% who feel they personally may be better off.
